Week 2 Fun

Well, I am sure you have heard about Mrs. Wishy Washy by now! If not, please ask your child about this fun character! We have read many books about Mrs. Wishy Washy and her muddy animals. The kids love them. So we wrote in the mud! ...not really! It was chocolate syrup, but we pretended like it was mud! We wrote curvy letters in the syrup, and then we got to lick it up! Don't worry, we washed our hands before and after! :) YUM!

The First Day of Kindergarten

We had a great first day of Kindergarten! I hope your child tells you all about it!

We read, Pete the Cat -Rocking in his School Shoes and then we went all over the school looking for Pete as we followed his clues. We didn't find him, but he left us a cool coloring page in our classroom. :)

We read, Can You Guess Where We are Going? as our library special today. Books take us to wonderful places with our imaginations!

We read, The Kissing Hand and we made a kissing hand puzzle to share with you tonight. :)

We learned about the ABC Center, Writing Center, Creating Center, Lego Center, Building Center, and Pretending Center (vet). The kids took turns so that they were able to play in a few of them today. They will learn a few more each day until they know all the expectations at each center. Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Well...we had a little visitor today...we didn't see him, but we saw his mess! We worked together to build traps...but he apparently ran through our room and knocked them all down! He did leave us a little surprise...leprechaun dust! ...which turned out to be pudding! He gave us the recipe and we had to recite a riddle to make it work. We had so much fun!

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!

 We had so much fun today celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday! I hope that they are able to tell you all about it!

In the morning, the kids visited Mrs. Wertz's class and read, The Cat in the Hat and they did a rhyming activity. They also visited Miss Artus' room and read, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. They got a bag of rainbow goldfish and sorted and graphed them by their color.

In our room, we read, Green Eggs and Ham, we played a word family game with green eggs and a spatula, we made a word family spinner, and we ATE green eggs and ham! Most of the kids said they didn't like it, they LOVED it! :)

We also went into the lobby and made ourselves into a Thing number line. We used Habit #2 Begin with the End in Mind. We talked about how we should organize ourselves to make this happen. A few suggestions were made. And finally a child said that we should start with the least and the greatest and then everyone fills in from there! What smart kids! So we put 1 and 18 in a line and one by one the rest of them found where they belonged until all of my precious Things were organized from 1-18! :)
